Horse Racing Selections for Saturday + Big Golf Update (Friday May 29, 2026)

Featured

It’s been an eventful week at Twister Tipster — and the headline from the golf is a big one.

J.J. Spaun leads the Charles Schwab Challenge at -10, with Ludvig Åberg joint 10th at -5. We had Spaun at 28/1 each way and Åberg as Pick of the Week at 8/1 going into the tournament — both are very much alive heading into the weekend at Colonial.

In the Austrian Alpine Open, Casey Jarvis is on the cut line at -2 and fighting to make the weekend. The ShopRite LPGA Classic gets underway today — Charley Hull and Robyn Choi are yet to tee off and fully live.

Saturday Racing — two picks:

🐴 Kodi Bear Light — 2.15 Beverley, 10/3, 1pt win Karl Burke’s two-year-olds have been in excellent form this season. Kodi Bear Light brings race experience to a field of largely unraced rivals — in early-season juvenile races that counts for a lot.

Crest of Fire — 3.45 Carlisle, 11/2 each way (5 places, 1/5 odds), 1pt each way The Silver Bowl was famously abandoned at Haydock last week after a hole appeared in the track — and this rescheduled renewal heads to Carlisle. Crest of Fire is our selection at 11/2 with 5 places on offer.

Coming This Week — Charles Schwab Picks Tomorrow, Weekend Racing Preview (Tuesday May 26, 2026)

Featured

Two things to look forward to this week.

Tomorrow we publish our Charles Schwab Challenge selections for Colonial Country Club (May 28-31). Tee times and weather conditions will be confirmed overnight and the analysis will be running in the morning. Colonial rewards precision over power — a very different test to last week’s CJ Cup, and a course profile our analysis tends to enjoy.

On the horse racing front, Saturday brings Class 2 action at both Chester and Beverley. Chester’s unique tight circuit and Beverley’s stiff track both throw up excellent each way opportunities. Selections will follow later in the week.

No Racing Selections Today — All Eyes on Si Woo Kim (Sunday May 24, 2026)

Featured

Taking a rest day from the racing card today, but there’s plenty to watch.

Si Woo Kim goes into the final round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a two-shot lead over Wyndham Clark and Scottie Schefflier at -21. Our outright selection has led or co-led all week — a nerve-shredding final round awaits.

Full golf update, results and P&L tracker update to follow once the dust settles. Back tomorrow with the racing.

Saturday Update: Si Woo Kim Leads by Five + Two Bonus Selections for This Afternoon (Saturday May 23, 2026)

Featured

A quick update before the afternoon gets underway — because things are looking good.

Si Woo Kim shot a 60 in Round 2 of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and leads by five shots going into the weekend. Our outright selection is in pole position with two rounds to play, and the glory double place is very much alive. Full golf update to follow once the tournament concludes.

Closer to home, American Affair is the gamble of the day at Haydock ahead of the 3:30 Temple Stakes. We posted him at 10/1 this morning — he’s now as short as 6/1. If you moved early you got a significant price advantage. That race goes to post at 3:30, followed by the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh at 3:40. Both selections are still live on the site.

Now — two more for this afternoon and evening.

Cartmel 4:30 — Halfway House Lad | 5/4

Trainer: James Moffatt | Jockey: Charlotte Jones

Won last time out at Hexham over 3 miles by five lengths as favourite, and he’s done nothing wrong throughout his career at this trip and ground. James Moffatt is a trainer who knows the northern tracks intimately and Charlotte Jones keeps the ride — straightforward continuity with a horse in form.

At 5/4 this is the most confident selection of the weekend — a horse who should go very close and is fairly priced at the top of the market.

Selection: 2pt win — 5/4

Salisbury 7:15 — Prince Of India | 5/1

Trainer: Marco Botti | Jockey: Marco Ghiani

Beaten a neck last time at Leicester as 10/3 favourite — desperately unlucky and a run that reads better than the result suggests. The draw advantage flag is also positive, conditions line up, and Marco Ghiani keeps the ride for Marco Botti’s yard.

Best price 5/1 is available if you shop around — worth taking over the 9/2 on offer elsewhere.

Selection: 1pt each way — 5/1

Our Golf Analysis Lands — Plus Three Weekend Selections Including the Irish 2000 Guineas (Friday May 22, 2026)

Featured

It’s been a promising week at Twister Tipster. Before we get into the weekend selections, a quick note on the golf — because our AI analysis has already delivered…

Keith Mitchell placed in the First Round Leader market at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, landing at T4 after the opening round. Dead heat terms applied but the place paid, and it’s a tidy return to open the tournament. Si Woo Kim also sits T4 after Round 1 — our outright selection is bang in contention with three rounds to play. More on that as the week unfolds.

Saturday 3:30 — Temple Stakes, Haydock

American Affair — 10/1 each way (4 places, 1/5 odds)

Trainer: J S Goldie | Jockey: P Mulrennan

The form book tells a simple and compelling story with American Affair. This is a horse who won at Group 1 level over 5 furlongs — the highest grade of flat racing — before connections tried him over further. The experiment didn’t work. A distant 10th at York over 6 furlongs last time can be completely forgiven; that trip found him out.

Now he comes back to 5 furlongs, the trip at which he is proven at the very top level. Paul Mulrennan takes the ride — a sharp booking for a northern track — and the market is already reflecting stable confidence with a significant range of prices available. The best price of 10/1 with four places paid represents real each way value against a field where the favourite is short enough to make the place market extremely competitive at the top.

Selection: 1pt each way — 10/1, 4 places, 1/5 odds. Check best available price before placing.

Saturday 3:40 — Irish 2000 Guineas (Group 1), The Curragh

Go Just Do It — 40/1 each way (3 places, 1/5 odds)

Trainer: Joseph O’Brien | Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle

The narrative around this selection is extraordinary. Go Just Do It is a son of Kingman — who won this exact race, the Irish 2000 Guineas, in 2014. Kingman’s son now lines up in the same Classic, and the miler pedigree could not be more obvious. His dam’s sire Lope De Vega adds the stamina for the step from 7 furlongs to a mile, making the trip a comfortable and well-supported progression.

His most recent run could not have been more impressive — sent off 8/13 favourite at Gowran Park, he beat Solana Beach by four lengths with plenty in the tank. He was doing it well within himself.

Dylan Browne McMonagle is in the saddle, one of the sharpest young jockeys operating in Ireland right now and a regular for trainer Joseph O’Brien. And here is where the story takes an extra twist — lining up against him is the 4/9 favourite Gstaad, trained by none other than Aidan O’Brien, Joseph’s father. Son versus father in a Classic, with the value sitting firmly on the younger O’Brien’s runner.

At 4/9, Gstaad is simply unbackable from an each way perspective. The place money in this race has to go on an outsider. At 40/1 with three places paid, Go Just Do It is exactly the type of longshot our analysis is designed to identify.

Selection: 1pt each way — 40/1, 3 places, 1/5 odds.

Sunday Morning — Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks, Group 1), Tokyo

Alankar — 7/1 each way

Trainer: Takashi Saito | Bred: Northern Farm

For those who want to venture further afield on Sunday morning, the Japanese Oaks at Tokyo is a fascinating race — and it features a selection whose story mirrors our Irish Guineas pick almost exactly.

Alankar’s dam is Sinhalite, who won this very race in 2016. The daughter now lines up in the same Classic her mother won a decade ago. Her sire Epiphaneia won the Japan Cup over this exact 2400 metre Tokyo trip, and her damsire is the legendary Deep Impact — the most influential middle-distance sire in Japanese racing history. Every strand of her pedigree points to a horse who will relish stepping up to the classic distance.

Her form on the track supports the case. Unbeaten on debut and impressive in winning the Nojigiku Stakes before a creditable run in the prestigious Hanshin Juvenile Fillies G1. Trained by Takashi Saito and bred by Northern Farm, the gold standard operation in Japanese thoroughbred racing.

At 7/1, this is the most straightforward of our three weekend selections in terms of price — a horse with blue-chip Classic breeding running in the race her mother won.

Selection: 1pt each way — 7/1. Verify place terms with your provider before placing.
