Horse Racing – Today’s Free Tips: Saturday August 5 including Glorious Goodwood and Galway Festival

£20 to £1,000 Challenge, Day Two

We had a bit of a mixed start to the challenge yesterday with all of the first three bets losing! Luckily, the final bet came in so we were not wiped out. We are now left with £16.54 to play with! For ease, we will round this down to £16.

The following tips need to be placed on Betfair using Betfair SP odds. To find out how to do this, visit here. I will be writing my own guides on this in the future. You can use bookmakers’ accounts as an alternative. We are heading to Hamilton tonight for these!

Bet One: 6.00 Hamilton Temper Trap £6 Bet Win

(BOOM! We are back in business with our challenge as Temper Trap walks it! 3.41 Betfair SP so we get £20.19 back with two bets to go today…)

Bet Two: 6.30 Hamilton Innse Gall £5 Bet Win

(UPDATE: Argh, finished 3rd. Good effort though.)

Bet Three: 7.30 Hamilton Tajalla £5 Bet Win

(UPDATE: Lost on the line – nice surge and should have won! Argh).

We go through to tomorrow with £20.19 in the pot! We will try to grow it further…

Two To Try

I advise that you put these on at £10 each way and use a ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ bookmaker – try to get as many places as you can. I will quote what I think are widely available odds and places – you can check yourself at sites such as oddschecker.com

Goodwood 3.35 Apollo One 12/1 (6 Places)

Placed in his last SIX races and has been handed a high stall draw so must be in with a great chance today, if nothing else. Also, tends to perform well on straight tracks. He is coming out top of my stats pool for this race and seems to be going a little under the radar with bigger names on show. With these odds and places on offer, feels a bit of a no-brainer to take a punt! He could even drift, so ensure you go with a ‘best odds guaranteed’ bookmaker!

(UPDATE – MINI BOOM as places second! Returns £34 from our £20 stake)

Galway 4.50 Rock Etoile 12/1 (5 Places)

For this gelding to run, we will need two horses to pull out as he is a second reserve! If he does run though, he will have a cracking chance though as he is a winner – and runs well on soft ground. That is what is likely to be awaiting the runners today with rain and wet weather set to hit the racecourses! Also, he recently won on soft ground at Gowran Park (also, a right-handed course). So, let’s hope two horses pull out and we get in as we should have a cracking chance here!

(UPDATE – MINI BOOM as places fifth! Returns £50 from our £20 stake with 20/1 SP Best Odds Guaranteed)

TWO TO TRY SUMMARY FOR THE DAY: £84 BACK FROM £40 – £44 PROFIT

(THAT’S £84 PROFIT FROM THE LAST TWO DAYS)
