Brand New £20 to £1,000 Challenge and Today’s Two To Try
As said on social media, I am going to restart the £20 to £1,000 Challenge – you will need to start with a crisp £20 to get going. Hopefully, this will last longer than a week this time. We had some bloody awful luck last time so I’m confident we can do better!
I am also going to start posting ‘two to try’ tips each day – these will usually be each way bets where I will recommend a bet of about £10 (though £5 is fine too). They will usually be mid-range odds so horses that have a cracking chance of winning but a place will give us our money back or a little bit of profit. On occasion, I will tip a longer odds horse or a short odds horse with a bigger stake!
Here are today’s tips…
Today’s Free Horse Racing Tips – August 4
£20 to £1,000 Challenge – Current Balance £20
We will start with our new £20 to £1,000 Challenge with our balance at £20. These will usually be Betfair Exchange bets. I will also begin to bet them at Betfair SP from now on. If you don’t know how to do this, click here for more information.
3.00 Goodwood Lattam £5 Win Bet
(UPDATE: Not a winner despite going off favourite so we are down £5)
5.25 Wolverhampton Hooflepuff £5 Win Bet
(UPDATE: Lost)
6.20 Newmarket Swiss Star £5 Win Bet
(UPDATE: Lost)
8.20 Mussleburgh Only Spoofing £5 Win Bet
(UPDATE: Won, thankfully! The challenge is not over. BSP 3.43 – £16.54 returned)
Leaves us with £16.54 in the pot for tomorrow!
Two To Try Bets
I recommend £10 each way on these bets and unlike the above bets, you can go to bookmakers and make use of extra places and ‘best odds guaranteed’. To be fair, I will only quote generally offered odds and places – though you may find better odds and places. Sites such as oddschecker can be helpful here.
3.00 Goodwood Sonny Liston 18/1 (5 places) Drawn well in stall 2 and the low stalls tend to do well in this race. I have already tipped Lattam above and that horse runs in stall 3! The gelding recently finished second at Royal Ascot and the changing ground should certainly help him here, complete with new visor and new trainer, Ralph Beckett. I have been tempted by a few here but this is the outsider I am punting for – with any luck, at least worth a place!
(UPDATE: Places! So that would be about £50 back from £20 if you got best odds guaranteed and five places, as advised, as it went off with an SP of 20/1)
6.35 Galway Chally Chute 10/1 (5 Places) Course and distance winner who likes to win, including at Galway. This is a rise in class here but certainly worth an each way put given his record at such odds and 5 places…
(UPDATE: Places! £30 back so we have made £40 profit from the two to try today!)
