Saturday Update: Si Woo Kim Leads by Five + Two Bonus Selections for This Afternoon (Saturday May 23, 2026)

Featured

A quick update before the afternoon gets underway — because things are looking good.

Si Woo Kim shot a 60 in Round 2 of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and leads by five shots going into the weekend. Our outright selection is in pole position with two rounds to play, and the glory double place is very much alive. Full golf update to follow once the tournament concludes.

Closer to home, American Affair is the gamble of the day at Haydock ahead of the 3:30 Temple Stakes. We posted him at 10/1 this morning — he’s now as short as 6/1. If you moved early you got a significant price advantage. That race goes to post at 3:30, followed by the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh at 3:40. Both selections are still live on the site.

Now — two more for this afternoon and evening.

Cartmel 4:30 — Halfway House Lad | 5/4

Trainer: James Moffatt | Jockey: Charlotte Jones

Won last time out at Hexham over 3 miles by five lengths as favourite, and he’s done nothing wrong throughout his career at this trip and ground. James Moffatt is a trainer who knows the northern tracks intimately and Charlotte Jones keeps the ride — straightforward continuity with a horse in form.

At 5/4 this is the most confident selection of the weekend — a horse who should go very close and is fairly priced at the top of the market.

Selection: 2pt win — 5/4

Salisbury 7:15 — Prince Of India | 5/1

Trainer: Marco Botti | Jockey: Marco Ghiani

Beaten a neck last time at Leicester as 10/3 favourite — desperately unlucky and a run that reads better than the result suggests. The draw advantage flag is also positive, conditions line up, and Marco Ghiani keeps the ride for Marco Botti’s yard.

Best price 5/1 is available if you shop around — worth taking over the 9/2 on offer elsewhere.

Selection: 1pt each way — 5/1
