It’s been a promising week at Twister Tipster. Before we get into the weekend selections, a quick note on the golf — because our AI analysis has already delivered…
Keith Mitchell placed in the First Round Leader market at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, landing at T4 after the opening round. Dead heat terms applied but the place paid, and it’s a tidy return to open the tournament. Si Woo Kim also sits T4 after Round 1 — our outright selection is bang in contention with three rounds to play. More on that as the week unfolds.

Saturday 3:30 — Temple Stakes, Haydock
American Affair — 10/1 each way (4 places, 1/5 odds)
Trainer: J S Goldie | Jockey: P Mulrennan
The form book tells a simple and compelling story with American Affair. This is a horse who won at Group 1 level over 5 furlongs — the highest grade of flat racing — before connections tried him over further. The experiment didn’t work. A distant 10th at York over 6 furlongs last time can be completely forgiven; that trip found him out.
Now he comes back to 5 furlongs, the trip at which he is proven at the very top level. Paul Mulrennan takes the ride — a sharp booking for a northern track — and the market is already reflecting stable confidence with a significant range of prices available. The best price of 10/1 with four places paid represents real each way value against a field where the favourite is short enough to make the place market extremely competitive at the top.
Selection: 1pt each way — 10/1, 4 places, 1/5 odds. Check best available price before placing.
Saturday 3:40 — Irish 2000 Guineas (Group 1), The Curragh
Go Just Do It — 40/1 each way (3 places, 1/5 odds)
Trainer: Joseph O’Brien | Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle
The narrative around this selection is extraordinary. Go Just Do It is a son of Kingman — who won this exact race, the Irish 2000 Guineas, in 2014. Kingman’s son now lines up in the same Classic, and the miler pedigree could not be more obvious. His dam’s sire Lope De Vega adds the stamina for the step from 7 furlongs to a mile, making the trip a comfortable and well-supported progression.
His most recent run could not have been more impressive — sent off 8/13 favourite at Gowran Park, he beat Solana Beach by four lengths with plenty in the tank. He was doing it well within himself.
Dylan Browne McMonagle is in the saddle, one of the sharpest young jockeys operating in Ireland right now and a regular for trainer Joseph O’Brien. And here is where the story takes an extra twist — lining up against him is the 4/9 favourite Gstaad, trained by none other than Aidan O’Brien, Joseph’s father. Son versus father in a Classic, with the value sitting firmly on the younger O’Brien’s runner.
At 4/9, Gstaad is simply unbackable from an each way perspective. The place money in this race has to go on an outsider. At 40/1 with three places paid, Go Just Do It is exactly the type of longshot our analysis is designed to identify.
Selection: 1pt each way — 40/1, 3 places, 1/5 odds.
Sunday Morning — Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks, Group 1), Tokyo
Alankar — 7/1 each way
Trainer: Takashi Saito | Bred: Northern Farm
For those who want to venture further afield on Sunday morning, the Japanese Oaks at Tokyo is a fascinating race — and it features a selection whose story mirrors our Irish Guineas pick almost exactly.
Alankar’s dam is Sinhalite, who won this very race in 2016. The daughter now lines up in the same Classic her mother won a decade ago. Her sire Epiphaneia won the Japan Cup over this exact 2400 metre Tokyo trip, and her damsire is the legendary Deep Impact — the most influential middle-distance sire in Japanese racing history. Every strand of her pedigree points to a horse who will relish stepping up to the classic distance.
Her form on the track supports the case. Unbeaten on debut and impressive in winning the Nojigiku Stakes before a creditable run in the prestigious Hanshin Juvenile Fillies G1. Trained by Takashi Saito and bred by Northern Farm, the gold standard operation in Japanese thoroughbred racing.
At 7/1, this is the most straightforward of our three weekend selections in terms of price — a horse with blue-chip Classic breeding running in the race her mother won.
Selection: 1pt each way — 7/1. Verify place terms with your provider before placing.
