Closer to home, American Affair is the gamble of the day at Haydock ahead of the 3:30 Temple Stakes. We posted him at 10/1 this morning — he’s now as short as 6/1. If you moved early you got a significant price advantage. That race goes to post at 3:30, followed by the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh at 3:40. Both selections are still live on the site.

Won last time out at Hexham over 3 miles by five lengths as favourite, and he’s done nothing wrong throughout his career at this trip and ground. James Moffatt is a trainer who knows the northern tracks intimately and Charlotte Jones keeps the ride — straightforward continuity with a horse in form.
At 5/4 this is the most confident selection of the weekend — a horse who should go very close and is fairly priced at the top of the market.

Go Just Do It — 40/1 each way (3 places, 1/5 odds)

The narrative around this selection is extraordinary. Go Just Do It is a son of Kingman — who won this exact race, the Irish 2000 Guineas, in 2014. Kingman’s son now lines up in the same Classic, and the miler pedigree could not be more obvious. His dam’s sire Lope De Vega adds the stamina for the step from 7 furlongs to a mile, making the trip a comfortable and well-supported progression.
His most recent run could not have been more impressive — sent off 8/13 favourite at Gowran Park, he beat Solana Beach by four lengths with plenty in the tank. He was doing it well within himself.
Dylan Browne McMonagle is in the saddle, one of the sharpest young jockeys operating in Ireland right now and a regular for trainer Joseph O’Brien. And here is where the story takes an extra twist — lining up against him is the 4/9 favourite Gstaad, trained by none other than Aidan O’Brien, Joseph’s father. Son versus father in a Classic, with the value sitting firmly on the younger O’Brien’s runner.
At 4/9, Gstaad is simply unbackable from an each way perspective. The place money in this race has to go on an outsider. At 40/1 with three places paid, Go Just Do It is exactly the type of longshot our analysis is designed to identify.

Her sire Epiphaneia won the Japan Cup over this exact 2400 metre Tokyo trip, and her damsire is the legendary Deep Impact — the most influential middle-distance sire in Japanese racing history. Every strand of her pedigree points to a horse who will relish stepping up to the classic distance.
Her form on the track supports the case. Unbeaten on debut and impressive in winning the Nojigiku Stakes before a creditable run in the prestigious Hanshin Juvenile Fillies G1. Trained by Takashi Saito and bred by Northern Farm, the gold standard operation in Japanese thoroughbred racing.

A quick look back at the PGA Championship before we move forward. Mixed feelings — Rahm and Schauffele both placed and we very nearly broke even on the week, which in a Major field of 150+ players is far from a disaster. Rahm in particular looked like he had the tools to win it but couldn’t quite close the gap on Rai down the stretch. A few things went against us but the analysis was sound and the model identified two of the players who genuinely contended.

Syzygy — 6:50 Roscommon — 9/4 (1pt) A standout on the card. Won a hat-trick last season including over a similar race at the Curragh, and her performance in the Irish Lincoln this season marks her out as the one to beat here. Back up in distance which suits. Should be there or thereabouts — worth ensuring best odds guaranteed in case of any market drift before the off.
Three selections across the afternoon and evening cards today, with a win play at Newbury and each-way value at Newmarket and Doncaster.
Albert Einstein — 3:10 Newbury — 9/4 WIN (1pt) The Moore/O’Brien combination always demands respect, and Albert Einstein has the form to back it up. Twice successful at 6f on good ground, he stepped up to 7f last month and ran a cracker — third of eight behind Alparslan, beaten just 1¾ lengths as the 9/4 favourite. Drop back to his optimum 6f trip looks like the move that unlocks a win today.
Silver Ghost — 2:50 Newmarket — 4/1 EW 4 places (1pt each way) Two wins at 7f on good ground and a solid course-and-distance run earlier this month — third of six behind Billyjoh, beaten 2¾ lengths at 7/1 on good to firm. Proven at the track, proven at the trip. At 4/1 each-way with four places on offer, the value is there.
Lorna B — 6:38 Doncaster — 5/1 EW 4 places (1pt each way) Three wins across good, good to soft and all-weather surfaces at 6f. Latest run was September last year when fifth of 16 at Thirsk at 9/1, beaten 2¾ lengths behind Eternal Sunshine. Seasonal return to watch, and 5/1 each-way with four places on offer is a fair price.

The final day of the York Dante Festival brings three selections across the card — a proven course performer at a solid price, a big-priced each-way play with the draw in her favour, and a potentially special horse heading towards Royal Ascot.
The low draw bias has been a consistent theme all week at York and today’s selections account for that — stalls 4, 5 and 6 across the three races.
Five wins on good to soft ground, a victory at Pontefract last month and a third place in this exact race earlier this season. Have Secret arrives with genuine York form and conditions that suit. Stall 6 is ideal given this week’s draw bias and five places at 10/1 makes this a well-grounded each-way selection. The form is backed up, the track suits and the draw works in her favour.

The stable switch to Simon Pearce is the risk but also the opportunity — fresh horses for new trainers often run well and Pearce needs a winner. At 40/1 with five places the each-way mathematics are excellent. If the ability is there, she should comfortably outrun her odds.
A Frankel offspring, half-brother to Crown Estate, carrying the colours of the King and Queen with William Buick in the saddle. Portcullis stormed home at Newmarket recently and today looks like the next stop on what could be a very exciting season.
The potential destination is the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot — and a convincing win today would announce him as a genuine contender for one of the summer’s most prestigious races. Evens reflects the market’s confidence. The pedigree, the form, the jockey and the occasion all point the same way.

An Irish raider that the market may be underestimating. Better than handicap level on his best form, he showed genuine speed at Royal Ascot last year before connections dropped him back in trip. The return to 5 furlongs looks spot on. The key flag here is a recent wind operation — horses returning from wind surgery are consistently underrated by the market and if that has resolved his breathing issues this is a completely different proposition at 8/1.
The one caveat is stall 13 — not ideal given the low draw bias at York this week. We’re taking the risk on the form and the wind op rather than worrying about the draw. At 8/1 with 6 places the each-way value justifies it.
This one ticks almost every box. Was below his best in the first half of last season but improved significantly as the year went on — that trajectory heading into this campaign is encouraging. Handles courses with bends well, which York suits perfectly, and crucially draws a nice stall in 6.
The clincher is the course form — he finished second here over the same distance last year. He knows the track, handles the trip, and arrives in improving form with a favourable draw. Solid each-way proposition at 6/1.

The Aidan O’Brien angle alone commands respect — his runners at big meetings carry stable confidence and are rarely without a chance. But there’s genuine form to back this up. Action has performed well in Group 1 company previously, including against Bow Echo who went on to win the 2,000 Guineas, and is closely related to Lambourn, the 2025 Derby winner. The class is not in question.
The key update is the tongue tie being removed today after issues last time out. Tongue tie removal is one of the most consistently positive signals in racing — if that was restricting him previously, today could be a different horse entirely. Stall 7 is a decent draw with no concerns given the track bias.
The only note is that 3 places at 11/2 makes this more of a win-orientated play than the others — factor that in to your expectations.
