Golf Tips of the Week – PGA Tour, The American Express

This week we are going to hop to the PGA Tour for The American Express event played across three par 72 courses in La Quinta, California.

This week, I will pick out two golfers to follow to make things a little more interesting.

Chris Kirk 40/1 (8 Places) 1pt each way

Firstly, I am going to take a chance on Kirk, who won The Sentry a couple of weeks ago, and hope he can pick up another win in 2024. Kirk did well in this tournament last year and placed third two shots behind winner Jon Rahm, who has since moved to LIV Golf. At 40/1 in a range of places (45 and 50 if you look about), let’s give him an each way punt. You can get 8 places with the likes of William Hill and Boyle Sports. OUT OF THE PLACES, -2pts

Cam Davis 50/1 (8 Places) 1pt each way

Australian Davis is nicely priced at 50/1 and 8 places with Paddy Power and William Hill. You can get him as high as 77/1 on Betfair! Davis tends to enjoy multiple format events and is an improving player. This could be where he does well and puts his skills into play. CUT -2pts

Golf Tip of the Week – Dubai Invitational 2024, DP World Tour

After another disappointing place golfer tipped with Collin Morikawa last week (we want winners!), we turn our attention to the DP World Tour and the Dubai Invitational 2024. I’m not a fan of tipping 25 golfers each week (as you may see elsewhere – and surprise, surprise, you find a winner!) so let’s go for some value with one or two quality picks each week.

Golfer of the Week – Dubai Invitational 2024

Jordan Smith – 28/1 (6 places) 1pt each way

I’m not going to tip up Rory McIlroy or Tommy Fleetwood so let’s find some value with Jordan Smith – who is a nice price at 28s with various bookies and 6 places. Smith performed well in Qatar back in October so may be at home back in the Middle East for this inaugural tournament. He also posted an-almost 75% record of hitting greens in regulation (3rd on the tour for 2022/23) in 2023 so there’s much to build on. So let’s take an each way punt!
