Off the back of a nice winner with Summer Island at the Curragh yesterday, we’re keeping today’s card tight — just two advised selections. No extras, no speculative third pick, no forcing a bet for the sake of it.
Diligent Harry — 2:10 Newcastle, 11/4, 1 pt win. This is the strongest selection on the card from our side. Diligent Harry comes out well on the model, has strong course-and-distance credentials, won this race last year, and arrives here off a solid Group 2 effort. Newcastle’s all-weather surface is also a plus given the wider heat and ground concerns affecting turf racing elsewhere this week. At this price the each-way return doesn’t add much, so we’re backing him to finish first only.
Winged One — 4:45 Chester, 10/1, 1 pt each way (3 places). The value play of the day. She ran well at Chester last time out, has a helpful low draw, gets first-time cheekpieces, and is rated strongly by the model in this race. One thing worth flagging: the each-way case depends on the field holding at eight or more runners so three places stay on offer — if a late withdrawal shrinks the field, the appeal of the bet changes with it.
Summary: Two plays today, Diligent Harry to win at Newcastle and Winged One each way at Chester. Tight by design. Subscribe via the Substack to get daily selections at good prices.
